Emma Watson wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress to the UK Premiere of Harry Potter and  the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.  Love love love the fact that she's wearing a Dominican Designer! Kudos to the Dom. Rep!

Thoughts? I think she looks stunning. But then again I adore Oscar de la Renta way too much to hate on one of his designs.

Harper's Bazaar May 2011: Lady Gaga

"We all have these bones!"  "They're the light from inside of us".
- Lady Gaga

My name is Carolina and I love Gaga editorials. I'm not a FAN (I do like a few songs), I just find her extremely likable and just the enough amount of "cray cray" (Urban: For crazy or out of your mind...get with it kids).       Loving the multi-boob shirt...

At the end of every university semester you can definitely notice a decline in our posting. Finals weeks are insane.  Both Marilyn and I study marketing and fashion design at the same time, so the amount of group projects/dealing with people/printing/studying consumes us.  Thankfully Thursday, April 14th I will be a free woman. Then vacations baby! :D (Only two weeks, but still very much needed).

It's been a while since a Fashion Design Class Update, so I'm gonna share with you guys my "Mood Board", for my Design I class.  The task is to draw a collection inspired on it. Have to draw 5 blouses, 5 skirts, 5 pants and 5 holiday dresses (party dresses), with their front and backside.

------

My mood board is a quick view on what I love: Music, Bright Colors, The Color Back and just that whole rock and screw you vibe.  I'm excited to see what I come up with, hopefully what I have in mind will come across in my drawings.

Now because we all love looking at pretty pictures...Vogue Australia's Candy Girl:

Vogue Hommes Japan: Rick "Rico" Genest

You know that dude featured in Lady Gaga's music video for Born this Way?..Why yes friends, all that ink is real.

Rick "Rico" Genest has tatooed his body to portray a real life human skeleton, and for this (and thanks to the help of Nicola Formichetti) he has gained fame as a model.  Here he is in the new issue of Vogue Hommes Japan photographed by Mariano Vivanco.

Vivenne Westwood meets Avalon

I like a girl with caked up makeup
in the sunshine smoking cigarettes to pass the time

who wakes up to a bottle of wine on the nightstand
bites and scratches the blinds

but I ain’t found one quite right yet

so I step with pep to the park or supermarket
her apartment best be messy

And Lisa don’t mind when I call her Leslie...

Setareh Mohtarez.

My infatuation with everything "galaxy/futuristic", isn't going to fade away anytime soon.   First: Christopher Kane. Now Setareh Mohtarez.  She's a designer based in NYC and her work combines shape, movement, texture, and color.   Her current collection is called: "Brightness Dawn" and It's amazing.

Second Semester. January 2011.

Karl Lagerfeld's library at his studio in Paris.
I can't believe I'm already in my second semester of Fashion Design!

January 13th, 2011.  Beginning of our second semester in Fashion Design.  Courses: Illustration I, Design I.

Enero 13, 2011. Materias: Ilustración I, Diseño I.

It being the first day and all,  we didn't do much, other than learning what is it we're going to learn in each class, what to expect and of course what materials we need to buy.   Sketch books, Fabrian Paper, Different type of pencils, markers etc.

We did get out first assignment though! We have to draw FIFTY croquis for Illustration I.

The idealised figure, upon which, fashion illustrators drape their dress designs on, is also known as a “croquis.” The word “croquis” comes from the French word, meaning, “to sketch.”
The croquis is a means of communicating fashion concepts via an idealized fashion form.

I know this semester will be even more hectic than the last, but I am SO excited :)  Now, some picture inspiration that makes me want to develop some mad Illustration Skills.

Christopher Kane. (Still can't get over the AMAZING fabric)

Christopher Kane meets Bowie

Christopher Kane Resort 2011
Soundtrack: Space Oddity by David Bowie (Click to listen)

And I'm floating in a most peculiar way

And the stars look very different today

Here am I floatin' 'round my tin can far above the world
Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do

Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles, I'm feeling very still

And I think my spaceship knows which way to go

Look at the fabric...look at it. No seriously.... look at it!. I am mesmerized.  Its beautiful.
