Dominican Republic.  Summer all year long.

I used to have a recurring conversation with a friend of mine from Europe who lived here for a year.

My friend was always in shock with how people dress here on a daily basis. "You guys wear long pants! And black! How is it possible to wear black in this weather?".
"Its the Caribbean"- I would reply, "We are used to it".

I live in the city, but I'm at the beach right now spending the weekend and seeing people in short shorts, tank tops and flip flops reminded me of this conversation. The people are dressed like this only because they are at the beach, despite the fact that its even hotter in the city because of all the buildings, cars and loads of people. In the city they would never wear these type of clothes.

An example of this: In my university I have a couple of professors that do not allow shorts or short skirts. I do get their point the whole "its distracting blah blah" but people we're in the Caribbean, its sunny, its hot... what the hell?.

Is it only here? Does anything similar to this happen in your country? L.ike dress codes for night club or anything like that?

Ps: Am I the only one who finds typing large amounts on my blackberry incredibly annoying? hahaha
